Templates Talk[]

Yeah... Armor template will be next. It'd be nice to have someone to work with. The most important part of templates I've found is getting all the variables you need listed. If you keep introducing new things to display, the layout gets out of hand very quickly.

First thing should be to decide whether to have a single template for all equipment, or do separate templates for Armor, Weapons, and Accessories. What are your thoughts? Ampersand 23:26, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

I can see how I could just add a few things to Template:Item to allow for stats, weight, and set bonus. But I'm not sure how to incorporate screenshots.

Battle Page[]

I've been looking at the new battle page you've been working on, and here are my thoughts on it, for what they're worth. Overall, I think it's pretty nice, and I think that with a few tweaks, it will be be a lot better than the page as it is.

  • I like the addition of Related Quests. "Quest Given By" is probably unnecessary.
  • It's nice to see that the Infoboxes are gone, but it would be nice to see a little more structure to the page. There's a lot of information on that page, and listing is all one after another on the page may not be the best idea. I'm specifically talking about the Mobs and Recipes. It's nice to have that info, but it's probably the least important info on the page. It would be nice to see it hidden, smaller, or on the right.
  • I prefer the old placement of the maps.
  • I think the Gold, EXP, and AP should be in a more prominent place.
  • Perhaps put the official Details text ("If war is inevitable...") directly under the picture? Might work best in a small font. As it stands, it's hard to tell where this text belongs in the game from reading it on the page.
  • I'd like to see the ore deposits and erg pots get their own sections. I know I've visited these pages specifically to find ore patches that might have Gold Ore, and erg pots would be helpful for those "Find 2 Remnants" missions.
  • Wouldn't we want boss strategies on the boss pages? I mean, it's nice to have it there, but it makes more sense for recurring bosses than copy-pasting the strategies.
  • As for the story, I'm working on getting the dialogue up so you can have sources to cite :P
  • I think the current placement of the battle tab is the best.

I know I've written a lot or criticism for the page here... just know that it's all meant to be constructive. I enjoy what's been done so far, and I look forward to seeing the finished page. --Ujuidar 16:22, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

To toss my 2 cents in... The whole reason I ever visit battle pages is to A. check bosses(mostly mid-bosses), and B. check what recipes you get and when. Anything else I would wanna know is listed in-game so is pretty much a moot point. --Veltan 04:25, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Re: Talk Page[]

Glad to hear back from you, and I'm glad I could provide some meaningful insight.

I agree with removing the Infoboxes and making the pages edit-friendly, but I think the look and style is also very important, especially for the people that only read the Wiki. There's a lot of info to cram into that page, so I think it's important to make sure we have a good design that maximizes the space we have.

I like the hideable recipe list. Perhaps make the mobs hideable too?

I'm actually alright with the "Related Quests" area as a whole... it's just that "quest given by" line that I find unnecessary. Maybe you can get rid of the details section by moving the stats to the bottom of the info box and the related quests to the bottom of the page, sort of like the "See also" section in a lot of Wikipedia pages.

Battle tabs: Seems to me that the best position would be directly under the name. Smaller than original size is okay as long as it's still readable.

Actually, now that I look at it again, why is there a picture of the Perilous Ruins there at all? New Suggestion: replace "Perilous Ruins" with the battle tab, and replace the picture with "Location: Perilous Ruins". --Ujuidar 18:42, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

Maps: Yes, under the information box, on the right. That keeps it easy to find, but out of the way, especially since it doesn't take up much horizontal real estate. Making it look right if there are many areas is an HTML/CSS concern, and should be fixable with a little bit of planning and a lot of tweaking (which is standard for anything CSS-related). Perhaps the maps should just contain the ore locations as a little icon. Someone posted a guide that had ore maps... maybe that will help (actually, I used that info to put the ore info on the page in the first place).

Quote: Here's an interesting idea to set the quote aside... use an existing template :P

Aodhan (NPC Icon) Aodhan

If war is inevitable, we might as well strike first. I've already ordered the entire Crimson Blade to assume position. Listen, I want you to lead this battle. Go to the Docks, gather some fellow mercenaries, and head to the Perilous Ruins.

Hope this helps clarify the ideas I had in mind. --Ujuidar 04:48, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

Category:Lists of Armors vs Category:Armors[]

Can we make these two the same and make it less confusing? If someone is looking for armors, it seems the best thing to do would send them to one place, not two. MynockSpit 04:54, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

Same thing for Category:Accessories / Category:Lists_of_Accessories and Category:Weapons / Category:Lists_of_Weapons MynockSpit 04:57, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Ah, I'm sorry, I wasn't questioning their reason for existence so much as their reason for being linked from the main page. I for one feel that it'd make sense to have the "Armor" link on the main page go to the "Armor" page which is both a category and description of the use of each. It seems to me that the specific lists for armor work in that place because people are looking for that kind of armor. However, someone who clicks on "armor" is most likely not looking for lists of kinds of armor, but probably descriptions and usages of armors. Therefore, it seems odd to send people to a list of lists when you could send them to a page that describes the lists. MynockSpit 04:31, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Hello! I want to thank you for everything you have done for the Vindictus Wiki. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Tesla, a wiki manager for Curse. The reason I am posting on your talk page is for some feedback. I was hoping you could tell me if there was something you would like to see on the wiki or if you think there is something we could do to help improve the quality of our service to the community. If you have any ideas at all, please feel free to stop by on my talk page and leave my your thoughts. Thank you! Tesla 23:34, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

Welcome back Nedigo![]

Hi! I'm Masquerine, the only active admin left on here for the past while. I can fill in you on what needs to be done and what I've been doing. In terms of game content, the wiki is behind since the September content update, which was Ignition. Ignition made many changes to many things about the game, and I've covered parts of it when I was working on it. The biggest part that I didn't get to update yet was all of the armor sets - confirming their stats, materials to craft and expertise crafting. I checked all of the weapons, but didn't check their expertise crafting or npc crafting. I checked everything about accessories though. Ignition added alternate, lower level sets of many armor sets. These pages need to be made still for some.

The expertise pages themselves need to have the recipes checked and all the additional recipes added in. I almost finished Armorsmithing, but didn't check the others. Platesmithing is no longer used, and it's recipes were given to Armorsmithing.

Many of the skill pages will need to be updated with the new ranks, as some of them go to 6 now.

The Avatar Shop items are mostly if not all missing for every character besides Kai, who I added in hairs at one point. They might have added in some new ones for him by now, but the entire thing about Avatar Shop needs a huge update.

There's also the new Season 2. I've been trying to keep the content of Season 2 separate from Season 1, so it's easier to keep track of everything. I've been putting all of S2 into it's own categories as I go along, such as icons, items and equipment. I've stopped focusing on Ignition in favor of S2. I've got all of the main stories added in, and only a few sub stories left to do. I added in the NPCs and will work on adding in the information about the buildings they are found in, as well as adding in the S2 battles, enemies and item drops. I didn't get to add in the armors yet, but I added in some weapons before. I'll recheck those to make sure they are correct when I get to it, and then split them into a Season 2 Equipment category.

You can check the community portal to get a short list summary of what I did if I didn't mention it here.

Oh one thing about enemies. The stats on every enemy will need to be rechecked, as Ignition made some changes to it. I was adding them in before Ignition, so that kinda sucks. If you need me, post something on my talk page. :) --Masqtalk 03:15, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

Season 2 takes a different approach to battles, giving several level ranges for each one. The item drops and behavior of the enemies can vary depending on the difficulty, so separating them like this keeps the information organized for the specific level range. What I'm doing for this is just listing each level range as it's own battle, and then listing all of the battles under the actual battle name. For example: Wasp Hive. Your tool could be useful for filling in the enemy stats though, but there is one little problem. While we don't have it yet, Season 2 bosses in hero mode will gain 8k attack. The template for enemy stats is set to auto fill in the hero mode stats, and adds 5k attack. 5k attack is what Season 1 bosses get, so the template will need to be changed or one made for season 2 added in. If you know what to do to change it, be my guest. I hate trying to figure out what to do for templates like that.
I'd think it would be easier to just use a new template for season 2 enemies. Keeps it simple. I just have not got around to that yet. The enemies for s2 will also be split into level ranges and organized the same way as wasp hive, with information and disambiguation. When I get around to it, some s1 enemies should also be split that share the same name. Basdeth mentioned it as a problem before, and I agree with it that they should be split. It's too confusing to have several different enemies on the same page just because they share a name. Not a priority now though. Just something to keep in mind.--Masqtalk 04:03, 30 November 2012 (UTC)

I got a reply from Wyn on the IRC about the boat. Wyn linked me to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser and said that was the most popular one. Should be a good place to start. --Masqtalk 18:52, 03 December 2012 (UTC)

Page models on User Talk:Town of Cats[]

Just letting you know that I replied to you on User talk:Town of Cats such that the conversation stays in one place...

OK, I'm not familiar with such plugins. In any case I'll refrain from touching any more broken template-related stuff until I can see the consequences of the new approach... in any case thanks for the explanation :) Andreas Willow 17:22, 16 December 2012 (UTC)

Problem with Vella and Evie images[]

User:AsDolby noticed a problem with the Equipment Template. If Vella and Evie are in the restrictions together, only Vella will appear in the gallery. If Vella is removed Evie will appear, but it's not letting them co-exist. I'll let you figure this one out. :3 --Masqtalk 01:20, 22 December 2012 (UTC)

(EU) articles for deletion / XE Move[]

Hey there, thanks for the main page change. I noticed that the page "Exquisite Sweetie Bear Set (EU)" and its respective parts' pages are not valid anymore since both versions have the same stats. Is it possible to delete the 6 EU pages? Also, XE Move has been released in Vindictus EU so it's the only page needed, could the other "XE Move" and "XE Skill" pages be deleted? (edit: with the exception of the moves for Lann and Fiona, which use a different icon) Thanks in advance. Lon3wolf 21:18, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

All the XE Moves have a different set of damage, knockdown chance, skill icon and mechanics (some allow a 4-hit combo, some don't), thus the pages should not be deleted. What should be done is XE Move being a gateway across the 6 different XE Move skills, or wait a little bit until I finish a template I'm working on that allows browsing between skills in one page.
On a side note, please flag pages you find that are no longer relevant with the template code {{delete}} to compose a list instead of letting the administrators search for them. --Zikkun 21:38, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
The gateway page should be interesting. However be informed that currently the damage and knockdown chance scaling are the same for all six characters at the EU version. Only the icons for Lann's and Fiona's XE Moves are different. And same applies for the 4-hit smash after the move. Still, correct me if you find out otherwise for any of those statements. (And yeah, I will flag any such pages with {{delete}}, thanks for the reminder :) Lon3wolf 22:08, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
I've taken your information and checked for myself, you are correct. All the XE Move skills, with the exception of Vella's, have the same amount of damage and knock down rate. However, Kai cannot perform a 4-hit combo and neither does a staff-specialized Evie. I'll try to finish the template I mentioned in a few hours when I have more available time and hopefully that will simplify those 6 pages. --Zikkun 22:51, 5 January 2013 (UTC)
A staff-specialized Evie does use a 4-hit smash after her XE Move. When Vindictus NA was first released, Evie would combo with her staff instead of shooting magic arrows. For the smash after the XE Move, they've kept the exact same animation as her very first version of a 4-hit smash. So there's no difference for her. But it's true that Kai's XE Move text doesn't even include the 4-hit smash text and Vella's damage/knockback scales differently. Thanks for checking out, hope I can help you with anything. Re:About Expertise Crafts[]

Ok, thanks for the information. I'll keep that in mind and for now I'll focus on adding images, missing equipment/items pages and other 'basic' things that probably won't be affected by the plugin. I'll leave the crafts and materials alone. I know about the IRC but I'm not a fluent English speaker, so for me writing a logical sentence takes too much time, trust me ^^" → AsDolby talk ― 21:51, 24 January 2013 (CET)

Template changes[]

I finished all the shields, and went ahead and added all the missing weapons (longswords, long hammers, and pvp weapons for every category). I also changed the weapon tables up a bit since no weapons had HP or STA and added in PVP ATT since there's quite a few of those. I'm going to begin changing the armors over as soon as I have some more free time. Yay for insomnia? Xurkane 09:07, 17 March 2013 (UTC)

  • Got the heavy armor helms and tunics done so i could play around with some of the tables. So tables seem to be set up right now. Gonna work on the shield tables before I pass out and continue on armors tomorrow. Xurkane 07:14, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
    • Heavy armor is all set, but the main page needs to be changed to point to "Heavy armor" instead of "List:Heavy Armor" It's protected so I can't fix it. Once that is done, all the heavy armor stuff thats marked for deletion can go poof. i made "armour" pages for everything for the british folks in case they search that way.Xurkane 06:50, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
