Talk to Ellis again.
Ellis
I'm still a cadet, so I don't have much experience in
the field, but something about those goblins seem [sic] off.
It was...it was almost as if they had no souls. Goblins are
a large part of the Fomorian army, and they're supposed
to be very well trained. But the ones we saw were so
different!
<Eira >, why don't you see if anyone in town can offer
any insight on this?

You learned the Story: Collecting Sheaths .
Talk to people who might know the truth about Ainle . (Reilly is the only one you must speak to)
Gwynn
Are you still obsessed with Ainle? I already told you
everything you need to know. Stop wasting your time.
Aodhan
(Aodhan strokes his chin.
Never heard of goblins acting like that...
The goblins I've encountered have all been highly trained, very disciplined. What could be going on?
Brynn
Ainle? Hm. Something does come to mind, but it doesn't
concern me, so never mind.
If that's all your [sic] here for, please leave. I'm in the middle
of reading an important book.
Reilly
Ainle? Ainle... Oh! The town that makes pumpkin wine!
Yes, yes, of course I know of it!
That's where that child inquisitor Ulchas was born, yes?
And don't say Ulchas isn't a child. He is! He is!
If you want to know more about what happened in Ainle,
bring me another jug of Iced Strawberry Brandy. Teeheehee!
(Optional: Talk to Reilly again.)
Reilly
How could you come empty-handed?! Hey, I wand another Iced
Strawberry Brandy! Give me, give me!
If you select "Give"
Reilly
Teeheehee. Thank you kindly!
Ugh, this bottle...
(Reilly wrestles with the jug for a while, and finally gets it
opened. After a long sip, he gives you a stern look.)
Reilly
A few months ago, I was in Rocheste. Late on night, I
sensed a mana explosion to the northwest, where Ainle is.
You're familiar with mana explosions? They're exactly
what they sound like...magical explosions of mana.
Only magicians can detect them. They occure when an
inquisitor uses a pentacle of destruction or some other
equally powerful magic. But the explosion that night
was different, more soul-ripping, as if the dimensions
themselves were being torn open.
(Reilly takes another swig of his brandy.)
Teeheehee, but who cares?
If they summon some evil power...or summon
Morrighan from another world... Who cares?
Take another sip of strawberry brandy and dance a little jig.
Go back and talk to Ellis .
Ellis
What we saw and what you're saying now...doesn't
match up with what the Royal Army is saying.
(Ellis shakes his head.)
No, I trust the Royal Army. They'd never lie.
So I must've seen wrong. I will prove what I saw
was wrong. Let's go back to Ainle.

You're not hurt, are you, <Eira >? Good. Thanks for your help. And
I'd like to be alone for a little while.
