Help talk:Guidelines

I guess I didn't notice this before, but according to these guidelines we should be uploading grayscale icons instead of color? Yet the only grayscale images I've seen on the whole wiki is the portal images. Could somebody clarify this? Do all the current icons need to be replaced with grayscale? Linoleumz 05:09, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

I've seen some icons of some items that are grayscale. I've posted a few icons myself that are colored and have yet to be told they should be otherwise. If asked, it shouldn't be hard to replace colored images with grayscale variants. Darkwon1 22:09, 17 October 2010 (PST)

All equipment icons should be grayscale in order to represent that they can be dyed, you can get grayscale equipment icons from Marketplace (suggested) or from equipment NPC crafting. This, of course, does not apply to accessories. --Bumbletalk 06:13, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Ah, I see, that makes sense. The way it's worded on the page leads one to believe this applies to all icon images, not just equipment icons. Thank you for clearing that up, I will adhere to that from here on out. --Linoleumz 07:04, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Edited the guidelines to help and clarify. Tell me if you think it's still not clear enough. ;) 〜Celadontalk 10:57, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Crystal clear, it looks great (: --Linoleumz 19:30, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Equipment Screenshots[edit source]

I would like to suggest the following changes to the pose guidelines:

Fiona[edit source]

  • Sets and Tunics
Current: Expression 4 Suggested Expression 1

I see nothing gained by using this expression for these, and I feel that a neutral view should be used if there is not a reason to use a non-neutral view.

  • Pants
Current: Expression 4 Suggested Expression 1

The same expressions (current and suggested) as above, but with different reasons: expression 4 resolves no clipping issues on any of the pants I tested, but does introduce almost guaranteed clipping issues by placing a hand on the hips.

Evie[edit source]

  • Set and Tunics
Current: Expression 3 Suggested Expression 1

Expression 3 does not noticeably fix clipping issues and causes unnecessary distortion. The only reason I can think it was used was to better display the books that hang on the side of a few sets? If that is the case, those sets should be the exceptions that break the guidelines, not have the guidelines made to fit them.

  • Gloves
Current: Expression 3 Suggested Expression 1/Expression 4

Expression 3 does show the front and the back of gloves very well, but I feel it is missing a neutral view of the gloves. Here are a few of the test cases I did:

Temptress Gloves - Frost Peak Soft Armor Gloves - Mhara Gloves

If you have any opinions on this matter, please let me know! As always, I will let this sit a few days. If no one comments or disagrees, I will implement the changes. Basdeth 00:41, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

There are very few active users still left so you probably won't get anyone else commenting but me. Your proposed changes seem fine to me. You can contact Masquerine if you want to get her opinion on the changes since she helped choose the current pose guidelines for Evie and Fiona. While you're at that, would you like to help put together the pose guidelines for Karok? We still haven't upload his guideline images and I've set pretty much all his equipments to use Expression 1 since all his other poses are rather obscure. Dancing with the Wolf is an example of Ex 2/Ex 1 for Pillars. I have yet to be able to use a cestus so I don't really know how it should be posed. Also congratulations on getting promoted to admin. --Ɛαmes - ταłκ 01:56, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Did a little grinding and now I can use Cestus, I was thinking of using Expression 1 and Expression 4 like so. --Ɛαmes - ταłκ 04:28, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
POSE 5 FOR ALL THE KAROKS AHHH YEAH! Okay no I kid, I'm inclined to agree with you, most of his poses are rather flamboyant and don't seem to be of much use. I did notice expression 3 showed both the front and insides of gloves well and could be used as View 2 potentially. I made a comparison image between it and the back side of expression 1 here as View 2 B. Aside from that, expression 1 seems fine. The pillar poses seem fine to me. The cestus as well - but my Karok is only level 30, so I can only look at the cestus pose on two different weapons. Expression 3 can get the cestus in a similar position, pointed down rather than up. With only two weapons I can't really say which I think would work better overall, so if you like expression 4 I'd say use it. Basdeth 01:03, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Let me know when everything is settled and decided and I can help upload images for the equipment sets. I own practically every equipment set (minus the dragon raid stuff because Elchulus won't even drop 1/3 of the tears needed for one of the sets after doing it 12 times a week since release). Everything else I'd be happy to help get pictures done. I can't do the super highest of settings, but I can do enough to get a good picture. I'm glad you were able to come up with a template to display all of the characters on one page. I've been waiting for someone to make one to get the other character's pictures displayed (I have no clue how to make templates like that +best). Just give me the word and I'll get to the screenshot making process for all 4 characters. --Masqtalk 16:20, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
As I've stated, if no one disagrees with the changes proposed the changes will be used. So really, it's up to you if everything is settled and decided (as Akumo pointed out, there aren't that many active people). If you have opinions, don't be shy! As for settings, you probably already do this, but you can likely turn your graphic settings up higher for screenshots than for gameplay - fps doesn't matter so much when all you are looking for is a still image. Just figured I'd mention that in case you hadn't thought of it; if you had, don't mind me :) Basdeth 01:03, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
I have no clue how to take pictures of Karok's shoes, it just doesn't work with any expression. I suppose you could try the NumLock technique although it's too hard to control. *-*--Ɛαmes - ταłκ 20:09, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
Nevermind NumLock is good to use for positioning his boots, I'm fine xD.--Ɛαmes - ταłκ 20:15, 18 June 2012 (UTC)

Kai[edit source]

Well, Kai's out on NA now. Pose 1 seems fine for almost everything to me. For gloves, I think pose 2 would work well for View 2. For the bows, it seems there is no way to switch between long and short bow in the avatar shop. I think either pose 1 or 3 could work for View 1? And pose 4 for view 2. Here's a composite image of the discussed poses. Opinions anyone? Basdeth 12:16, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

I like the idea for weapon having view 1 Kai showing his sheath and shortbow in pose 1, and view 2 him posing pose 3 with a longbow.
Don't forget to sign your comments Jlee :) Anyway, I would love to include the shortbow. But, as I've already said, I can find no way to switch between bow modes in the avatar shop. As all the other guideline images are taken in the avatar shop, and this game doesn't have a good way to take standardized images outside of the avatar shop, I am of the opinion that for now the shortbow should sadly not be included in the view 1/view 2 images. On the plus side, this does mean we can have a view dedicated to the quiver. Basdeth 22:33, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
Boo I wanted the shortbow. And srry about not putting the signature. --Jleetalk 23:02, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
It seems someone made its own way for the bows, and look shortbow. Kobold Bow --Jleetalk 04:04, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
Both of the screenshots on the page you linked to are clearly the longbow version of the Kobold Bow. A longbow/shortbow comparison can be seen here. As to how the screenshot I linked can have both versions, I don't know. As it is watermarked by a korean gaming news site, I am inclined to think they had the image provided to them by nexon. If I am wrong, and there is a way to switch in the avatar shop, the guidelines can be changed. But for now, as noone has disagreed or provided opinions on the proposed guidelines, I went ahead and set them up. Basdeth 00:33, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
