Argontel & Other Bosses' Locations[]

I'm not sure who planned out the templates for these boss pages, but it would be really helpful if they could be edited to show where exactly they are located rather than just what boat they're on. Just saying that Argontel is found at "Prairie Entrance" is rather useless seeing as there is an area and a battle quest both named "Prairie Entrance". I have seen this same problem for various bosses and it is misleading for players who are trying to complete stories that involve items from various bosses (e.g. the Hoarfrost brothers, Greed, etc). Just a thought.

Here, here! Really, even if it just listed the mission for each mini-boss, it would be an improvement over the way it is now. After all, most of them don't appear in more than 2 or 3 dungeons at the most. However, mentioning which map they are on would over complicate matters. --Rognik 03:54, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Agreeded. Been thinking I need to make a comment of this. --Veltan 06:16, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Question[]

Just a quick question, not sure if this is the right place to post it or not, but does anyone know if that event for making a guide on the wiki is still going on or not? I remember seeing one on the website, but it doesnt seem to be there anymore. I have a friend whos interested which is the only reason why I'm asking. Veltan

It's over. Saiyr 15:52, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Quests[]

It is -very- difficult to locate all the quests in this wiki. I found it much easier when it was located on the front page. Looking for quests is going o be one of the features that many people are going to use and right now it's buried within the wiki and took me some time to find the right words to search for to get to them. Would it be possible to put a link to them someplace on the main page so that it is more accessible? You can't search for quests to fine them. You have to search for "Main Stories" or "sub stories" just to find some of them.

We will fix that soon, sorry about the issues. We are making new navigation portals and stories will soon be made. --Bumble 14:54, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Templates[]

It is extremely hard to edit most of the wiki the way the templates are set up currently. I propose we go with a much simpler method of dispensing information. Nobody's going to contribute to this wiki if they can't figure out how. Here's an example page. I added a picture with many different views to the page, but it doesn't go along with the template. In fact... there's nothing but useless garbage in the edit page. See what I mean? There's nothing there. At best, you might find Edit Set Information hidden on the page itself, and at worst users will just get fed up with trying to figure out how to add anything and just not do anything at all. I don't think that's a very good way to promote contributing to the wiki. So, I propose a more user friendly template. Flashy is good and fine and all, but it's useless if most people can't figure out how to add stuff. Tiffany 18:17, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

I agree, I don't really understand how this stuff works, I've edited other wikis and this one is by far the most confusing one I've come across, it looks wonderful but I doubt it has to be this complicated to look good. I also think it'd be better to have someone more active update the newsfeed, I've noticed it lags behind considerably. There are character pages that still show Evie as unreleased, by which I mean there are pages that are un-editable that list all the characters in two categories. I'm really confused as to how all this works as a community editable wiki if it's not editable by the community. rokugin 03:48, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

Suggestion for STR/INT Requirements[]

I'm a bit new to Wikis, so I don't know if I'm putting this in the right spot, but if this isn't in the right place, could someone else move it there? Moooving on...

I was thinking that instead of cluttering up the Stats page with the STR/INT requirements to lift certain objects, maybe we could make a new page that included the STR and INT needed along with a screenshot of the object and where it could be found. -Red

I don't think that's really necessary. That would be a TON of objects too. I think it's fine to just list the heavy stuff. Maybe add in some things that are lighter though like broken column pieces...However, somebody definitely needs to add in the int required for evie to pick up certain objects under the int stat. --DANTE20XX 06:09, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

Materials Required for Sets?[]

I'd be interested in the materials required to complete full sets to decide if its better to craft them or buy them. Also if I have enough materials without having to add them every time. I would help fill in this section if it was added to the template for the armors I can make.

It would just be like Fee: 5000g Cloth x 15 Leather x 10 Gnoll Jacket x 2 , ect. It a nice little box like each individual piece does. I don't how to do this with templates as I don't really get how this wiki is set up. If someone can do one, I'll start on the others I can do. As I get to them.

It would also be good if it marked if this set had a story quest and what the Title it gave you did. So you could make an educated decision on if it was worth crafting for the title. -BlueFire

EDIT: Found out how to do it on some. Though I did it the same way for spider but it did not work. Check the differences between these pages and maybe you can see why its not working. http://www.vindictuswiki.com/wiki/Light_Battle_Mail_Set http://www.vindictuswiki.com/wiki/Spider_Cloth_Set

Wiki Color Theme[]

I'm starting to get into the game but like many others, am very fustrated when trying to use the wiki. Where is the editing rules? There should be some standardization, such as text color and background colors, the purple on gray text everywhere is hard to read, I'm guessing some of the stuff I'm looking at is 10pt font, it should be around 12 or 14 depending what it is. I have lots of time to change stuff, I just don't know what to change it to. --Fluffy 10:09, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

Help:Guidelines I don't really feel the font size is an issue but if you'd like to discuss these issues I invite you to join Wiki IRC if you have time (and it's not 3am or some crazy time where I'm the only person awake) -Mairu 11:07, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

Item/Recipe Suggestion[]

I know each battle page shows what recipes you can get from them, but it might be a nice idea to also put what battle the recipe comes from on the items' pages. It would make things easier, I think, instead of finding an item's page, then having to search for the battle the recipe comes from. -->Skye 22:29, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

I came to this page make this suggestion but you beat me to it haha. What someone needs to do in order to unlock the recipe of an item is fairly important as knowing who makes something is useless if they won't make it and currently this is next to impossible to find on here. I would think something like "|obtain= Crafted by npc after completing battle" would be good. I found that someone had added a note for the recipe to the top of Healing Rune so I moved it to to be like this. I wouldn't mind going around adding this for other things if there are no objections, as it was one of the things that made me want to help edit this wiki. Sigil Baram 17:11, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
I'd say go for it. :> After all, the point of a Wiki is to be as helpful as possible. ~Skye •talk•♦contribs♦ 18:15, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

Story Problems[]

Some of the things are cut off, probably just a formatting issue. --Yahweh 22:16, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Do you mean on our wiki or in game? 〜Celadontalk 23:18, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
My bad about how broad that was, and it turns out to be both. The text from npcs is cut of in the normal story. I've only noticed it with the new quests; normally I just skip the text anyway. ALSO with the story pages. Quest objectives seem to end before the quest is over. It could be that I'm not seeing a scroll bar, but there is normally more to the quest that is shown. As I write this, it looks like it's been fixed!
Atleast on the Keaghan's Visit Quest. Some of them do not. How is this fixed so I can try and do it.--Yahweh 18:20, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
Keaghan's Visit is not complete because I am one of the only ones adding new quests for boat 4 and I haven't finished that one on my character yet. Feel free to update it as you see fit. If you don't know how, but know the remaining steps, let me know what they are and I'll add them. Saiyr 18:44, 5 December 2010 (UTC)

Tracking Crafting Material Usage Idea[]

So updating all of the "Used in crafts:" lists on the material pages by hand is a HUGE pain. If we modified the template Template:Obtain Materials to add the pages that it is used on to categories something like "Category:Crafted With Cloth" when it is used for cloth we could just put a link to these categories on the material pages. I put this together to show it works at User:Sigilbaram/Template:Obtain Materials. These categories could be made hidden if there is a fear of them cluttering up the category list at the bottom of equipment pages, especially set pages. Sigil Baram (Talk) 00:46, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

Request for Changes on main page[]

Can't edit it myself cause its protected (and thankfully so), so can we get an update on the main page? Under "Items" I would like "Consumables" and "Materials" to list to their respective lists instead of their categories. Under "Vindictus Universe" I would like "Battle Quests" to also link to its respective list and would like you to add "Bosses" under that same category and have it link to the list. --Fluffy 07:42, 19 January 2011 (UTC)

Needs an update[]

I checked the Vindictus news on this wiki, and apparently, it doesn't contain anything about the Blood Lord update. Please update the news section. :)

Video Capture and other settings[]

If anyone can find out what the resolutions and quality specifics for the settings for video capture are, that would be very helpfull. and i guess this would fall under a properly organized settings catagory.. I will do what i can to provide info if someone who knows how can work out the structure and organization here. Thanks

Don't know anything about it myself. Did a quick search, and I don't think there are any pages that talk about it, so if you have some info, feel free to make a new page for it. I'd suggest "Video Capture", with the category Category:Information. --Ujuidar 05:41, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

Advanced Item Sorting[]

Could we possibly have a feature to be able to sort all items that do a specific thing, like increase your Attack Speed? It would be helpful to return all the scrolls that increase attack speed, or the best weapon for that, etc.

Do you mean something like this -> [1] --Ɛαmes - ταłκ 21:29, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
Yes, thanks! --Jaxo 18:55, 18 July 2011 (UTC)

Wiki portals[]

I feel like this needs to be revised Maybe something like

  • Characters
  • NPCs
  • Items
  • Locations (battle quest locations)
  • Stories
  • Enemies
  • Equipment (adjust subcategories?)
  • Enchant Scrolls
  • Titles
  • Guides

What does everyone else think/ want to add. --Bramimond 18:41, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Broken feather set[]

On the broken feather set page under "Full Set Restrictions" It says it only requires Cloth Armor Proficiency rank 9, which the boots and bracers need. But it doesn't mention the Light armor proficiency rank 9 that the skirt and girdle needs. I'm new to wiki editing and haven't quite tried editing yet, so it'd be nice if someone else would correct that or tell me if I'm wrong.

Category for this page[]

I recommend this article be categorized into Category: Vindictus Wiki. I would have done so except I am not administrator or bureaucrat and this page is protected (for a good reason and as a common wiki practice). --The Duke of Rockford 20:12, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

I don't think main pages are normally categorized? --Sigil Baramtalk 23:18, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
Main page at Wikipedia is not categorized but main page at Grand Theft Auto Wiki where I used to be moderator of is. It really depends on wikis. It's up to you wiki staff to decide if it should be or not. I personally think it should be but it's not absolutely necessary. --The Duke of Rockford 23:38, 1 December 2011 (UTC)

Image for Bow[]

Kai's bow has three views: its longbow mode, short bow mode, and the arrow sheath. And I'm wondering how we should set this up when we only can put 2 pictures on an equipment. --Jleetalk 16:40, 11 June 2012 (UTC)

Hmm, I wouldn't worry about it too much until he's released, but I've seen screenshots that show both the bow and quiver in the same image, so all three views can be seen in just two images. Go to the vindictusdb and look at the screenshot for the Ivory Bow (I would link it but I can't, boooo).
In any case, if the time comes that the two image template is not sufficient, it will be changed. Basdeth 23:04, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
So like this?
View 1 View 2
Longbow Mode Arrow Sheath
Shortbow Mode
--Jleetalk 20:38, 14 June 2012 (UTC)
I apologize for being unclear. I did not mean the images should be combined into the same image as was done on the image I referenced you to. I meant those two images combined there could be the two different views used (as such). Although I'm inclined to say that it's unnecessary to include the same angle of the quiver in both views, so perhaps the view 1 could be a more flattering view of the full bow without the quiver in the shot at all. Again, I wouldn't worry about it too much until Kai is released. Basdeth 00:36, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

Captcha and Revert Image not working[]

On trying to edit in an external link, I was given a captcha to complete. However, I cannot lock in my answer for the captcha. As such, it is impossible for me to use external links. Is anyone else having this problem? Basdeth 23:04, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

I seem unable to revert any image to a previous version. I have tried on Firefox, Chrome, and Internet Explorer, with script blockers turned off. Can anyone revert images? If you want an image to test on, The Blood Prince Set needs to be reverted to its most recent previous version so that it can be used as the Fiona screenshot.
While testing the revert problem, I tried creating a new account to see if it's just my account/administrator accounts that cannot revert, and discovered the same captcha that prevented me from creating external links prevents me from creating a new account. There is no validation link for the captcha, so I cannot complete it. I see new accounts get created occasionally, so I know some people can complete the captcha. Can anyone enlighten me?
I feel these are rather serious problems, and if other people are having them I'll shoot Bumble an email or something. But I'd hate to be a bother if the problems are just on my end. I'd be very grateful to hear from someone that tries these out (reverting an image, captcha found on character creation screen.) Basdeth 22:01, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
Captcha Example

Hovering the mouse over the images will enlarge the photo for better view

I cannot revert images either so it isn't only you. As for the captcha for creating new accounts, my captcha was to select all the cat images out of a photoset of cats and dogs which I was able to complete. Maybe it has something to do with your browser? I'm using the latest version of firefox. --Akumo/TestAccount 22:39, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
(Deleting past revisions aren't possible either) --Ɛαmes - ταłκ 22:45, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
Reverting doesn't work for me too, so something was changed to disallow it and needs to be changed back for it to work, it seems. --Masqtalk 22:48, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
Thank you both very much!<3 It looks like it was me being stupid on the captcha somehow (my guess is I was likely individually allowing all the scripts I saw rather than disabling noscript, which can cause problems). I'll send Bumble an email about revert not working, so hopefully we can get it working again. Basdeth 23:01, 18 June 2012 (UTC)

Dungeons[]

Some dungeons are categorized as Bosses (e.g. A Town Engulfed). I tried fixing it but nothing happened. Does anyone have an idea or solution for this? --Jleetalk 00:00, 18 June 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for bringing this up. It was caused by the boss pages including their category in transclusions of their page. Some of the pages were showing only their category in transclusions, which was causing the bosses to be invisible in the 'monsters found' section of battles. It should be fixed now, unless I missed some. Good catch. Basdeth 00:29, 18 June 2012 (UTC)

Irukul[]

Is Irukul really a Category:Giant Boar? Cause I don't want to make a category with just one thing it in.

Going by the db, Irukul is a bear. Underneath "Class", it says npc_(type here). Basdeth 23:47, 21 June 2012 (UTC)
Bears don't have tusks though. Irukul doesn't have fur either. It lacks a trunk so it's not an elephant or mammoth. The tusks that Irukul has are just like a boar's pair of tusks, and boars tend to have really short hair (which is just like Irukul, almost like the appearance of skin). Therefore, Irukul is a boar. --Masqtalk 13:57, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
I disagree with your reasoning on the following basis: the developers are the ones that said Irukul is a bear type. Taxonomy is irrelevant when discussing monsters in a video game. I have created a general discussion about enemy types here. Basdeth 21:01, 3 September 2012 (UTC)

If the user who created that image does not provide a replacement when Kai is released, I have come up with the image to the right as a possible alternative. I spent some time trying to recreate the style of the original image before deciding to go for something new. Thoughts anyone? Basdeth 00:21, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
Ooh! Let's have everyone to participate on making the new Home.png, and let us Admins to decides which is best! --Jleetalk 00:33, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
Aha, do you mean like an event for various users to upload like a contest (I remember there was an event held here by Curse with an actual mailed prize)? I guess that could be a way of getting new members and maybe some will actually stay to contribute. Although I don't suppose any of us has real life prizes to give away. The satisfaction of winning should be enough *^*. But for now we can use Basdeth's if it's already made.--Ɛαmes - ταłκ 04:53, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
For a contest, particularly one involving the appearance of the landing page, I would think input from one of the Curse members would be prudent? Bumble responds very promptly (though to be fair, I haven't contacted the others, they may be just as prompt), if you want to leave them a comment or shoot them an email.
As for my opinion, I like the idea of a contest. Encouraging user contributions is good! I only worry that perhaps, without a prize, there may not be much participation and no one graphically talented may enter. A low quality image on the landing page would not be a good thing. Of course, if participation is good, and at least one high quality image is submitted, it would be all around fantastic, so I dunno. Just my two cents Basdeth 09:52, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Jlee, did me and Akumo misunderstand you? Did you not mean a community event? If you did mean a community event, have you contacted one of the Curse members? Because with Kai's release imminent it should be set up quickly. If you did not mean a community event... well, I don't know what to say, so I'll wait for your response. Basdeth 07:29, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
Well I didn't really meant some kind of "special event" or something similar, but just something for people to do for fun. But if you guys want an event, why don't I talk to Bumble --Jleetalk 14:06, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

Hey guys Kai is going to be released on this coming Wednesay. Let's just decide who's picture would be used, me or Basdeth. --Jleetalk 23:11, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

I like Basdeth's picture. It has the charming Lann, beautiful Fiona, Playful Evie, Sexy Kai and serious business Karok. More importantly, it shows their faces clearly unlike your picture. Your picture has Lann's face hidden by the dark crest helmet, which I don't like. So I vote for Basdeth. --Masqtalk 00:30, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
Well I'm bit offended, but ok. Basdeth please upload the picture, if you're online that is. --Jleetalk 00:45, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
I'm not sure if anyone from Curse has let you guys know yet but Bumble has evidently resigned. User:Wynthyst mentioned it on the IRC the other night but I was afk at the time, so I'm not sure if she is picking up more of the wikis or if Curse is looking for a new staff member to replace Bumble. Considering the vast number of wikis they run I would hope they are finding someone else though, otherwise Wyn is going to be swamped. User:Tesla might still be staff too, but I'm not sure since my entire experience with her was when she popped into all the wikis to say hi then seemed to disappear again. Also, if you need help with the image map I was the one who went OCD on the current one after the person who made the current image left the links miss aligned. --Sigil Baramtalk 21:01, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
Ah, I was wondering why Wynthyst removed Bumble from the User list: Curse. --Jleetalk 21:09, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Yeah that means end of employment for one reason or another. Odd that she didn't leave a note somewhere while she was here though. --Sigil Baramtalk 21:12, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Hope they find new member. Also should I upload the picture that I cropped out from File:Main page.jpg? I ask Basdeth to upload the picture in the user talk 3 hours ago, but it seems he's still not logged-in. --Jleetalk 21:22, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, the discussion involving Bumble happened shortly before their removal. Kind of an odd coincidence. Thanks for bringing it up :)
Jlee, Please do not upload an image cropped out of that jpg, it has compression artifacts. I would like to replace the image during the Kai maintenance, it just seems... I dunno, tidy to me, to do it then. If more people think it is imperative to change it over sooner I will though. Basdeth 22:42, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Gallery Sections[]

Well it's me again. I hope you people aren't getting too sick of me eheh. This time, I was thinking it would be nice to have a gallery section for the Enemy, Set, and Equipment pages. A gallery section could provide alternate views, action shots, different dyes, as well as mixed equipment pieces. And, perhaps most importantly, I feel it may increase user contributions. Getting users to contribute to a wiki seems very important to me. And currently, image uploading is very hostile on this wiki. There are rigid guidelines in place, and only one spot open to display a particular image, so even if a user manages to get their image uploaded and displayed correctly, it may just be overwritten. For these reasons, a gallery section seems like a good idea to me. Any thoughts on the subject?

Gallery code can be seen in use on the Paladin Transformation page. Basdeth 00:21, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Or, to know how to use, edit, or create a gallery. See here, Wiki Gallery. --Jleetalk 00:29, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
Did you mean like add an additional section/page for a gallery? I wouldn't mind that, as long as we keep the standard View 1/2 on the main page. Perhaps something a link to Name/Gallery i.e. Blood Prince Set/Gallery. It would be a good idea to link the 'how to use' at the top of each gallery since it'll probably confuse new users.--Ɛαmes - ταłκ 14:46, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
Sorry, I probably should have made examples first. I usually do, was just feeling lazy at the time. But yeah, I just meant a new section. Here's a possible enemy page with gallery (as well as possible gallery instuctions if you scroll to the bottom), and a possible set page with gallery and concept art section added. Do you have any suggestions for improvement to formatting/wording? Do you think it would be better to put it on a new page? Basdeth 07:29, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
Between having the gallery be implemented through a gallery parameter, or through a gallery page, I am currently leaning toward the new page due to what I perceive to be a slight increase in ease of use for new editors. If noone has any suggestions or opinions, I will implement the gallery as seen in my Sandbox. Basdeth 00:13, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

Vindictus Wiki has been flagged as a malicious site, this needs to be addressed ASAP[]

imgur.com/a/cV8tj

Both my browser (Firefox) and Google has flagged this site as malicious, this needs to be addressed ASAP.

This happens on rare occasion due to the third party Ads letting a bad Ad slip through. Whenever it happens all of Curse's Wikis get hit at the same time pretty much since they use the same Ad service. It is usually fixed in a matter of a few minutes, but Google (Who provides the malicious site watch service stuff) takes a little while to re-scan the wiki and remove it from the flagged list. It would be nice if Google would just flag the Ad supplier rather than everyone who includes their Ads... but that is evidently a bit too logical. *shrugs*. Sorry for the inconvenience. --Sigil Baramtalk 19:33, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

New Main Page Request[]

I think it's time for a new main page. First reason because most of the current links (if not all) have been revised with a new layout (armor lists, item lists, skill lists). Second reason would be because we're planning on implementing pages for news (events & others) and updates (content patches) and we need a section for those. I don't trust my layout skills enough for the job and that's why I'm requesting this from someone. Simply copy the main page code and paste it on your User_Page/Sandbox page then send it to either one of the admins (Masquerine, Nedigo, Sigil) or by replying here. → Nedigo talk ― 18:49, 24 March 2013 (UTC)

Arisha + Nifleheim Update[]

Since Arisha is on its way to US and EU servers on December 10th, and Succubus Queen's arrival (with Bracelets, of course), it is time to remodel the Main Page accordingly.

  • Add Arisha and Bracelets to their respective blocks on the Main Page.
  • I took the liberty to make the page related to Bracelets and Bracelet Gems. The only need here is to add the gems themselves and their mediocre stats (as their stats are randomized).
  • Remake the Characters Picture.

Champion Weapons[]

Has anyone noticed that the Champion weapons are appearing multiple times on the Weapon's table? --Sanitea (talk) 15:58, 3 December 2014 (UTC)

Indeed, most Champion weapons (though no armor) have this problem. From what I found, It looks like the problem with the queries. For some reason, records are cloned and it is in need of a solution. My first thought was renaming the page to Champion's <whatever>, but that template still does a query for the older ones while adding the new one, which leaves a bunch of queries, pointed at no-more-existing page.

There might be three ways to solve the problem:

  • To remake the template that does the query search.
  • To create a new, more profitable solution.
  • The most annoying one - to rewrite pages (simple tables with entries) and not use any query search solutions.

Depending on this, we might as well solve the problem. The only thing that concerns me is: who will not be that lazy to do this, I wonder? And of course, I do wonder where are admins of this wiki, who have full control over file repositories and wiki pages? Updates for Vindictus (EU, US, CN, TW, KR) do not stop coming out, after all.

Template definitely needs some fixing as some weapons aren't even appearing on the list either such as Abyss on the Cross Guns section.--Sanitea (talk) 19:28, 4 December 2014 (UTC)

Template:Set[]

Is it possible to add equipment icons to the individual equipment pieces? It'd be nice (and really helpful) to have icons on the Equipment Set pages both for the set pieces and Materials Needed.--Sanitee (talk) 17:32, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

Well I have done this in your request in which I also believe it is necessary since just a link to the item wouldn't be suffice. --JHLtalk 06:03, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Equipment Stats[]

Anyone know why attack, attack speed and balance values are becoming automatically linked? Not sure how to fix this issue... --Sanitee (talk) 17:57, 27 April 2015 (UTC)

That shouldn't be happening... It looks like SMW forgot that those are numbers, not pages. The default type is page for some odd reason, which is annoying because it turns everything into red links. I'll run the touch bot on the property pages then on the rest of the wiki. T.T --Sigilbaram (talk) 20:26, 6 May 2015 (UTC)
Oh I see... Thaankss! :) --Sanitee (talk) 03:07, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Equipment Pages Not Updating[]

For some reason, some Equipment pages are updating as soon as new equipment is added, however some are not (and still seem to not update even after a couple of days.) For example, the Necklaces page no longer updates as well as some Armor pages such as the Cloth armor ones (been trying to get the new Golden Panda Body and Golden Panda Head on there. Weapon pages still seem to update fine.--Sanitee (talk) 02:11, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

It took me a bit to figure out too. Usually, the wiki will do its updating job following a list of pages to refresh and therefore saving a page without edit will trigger a force refresh. But in this case, the cloth armor list wouldn't refresh no matter what, so there had to be an error somewhere else. Using the SMW Search tool and applying the same query as Armor list query you can see that Golden Panda actually DOES pop up, so the issue wasn't in the data storage either. After closer looking at the query template, your attention should then be directed to the sort filter : "sort=req level, name". Looking over at the equipment page again, and then notice req level isn't specified. There's the issue. In short, the equipment templates does a query using req level to filter its results. If it can't find a value, it just can't use it for its result list. I hope that helped. → Dig494 talk ― 00:53, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
Oh I see, thanks! I'm starting to see the equipment back on the list now. :)--Sanitee (talk) 18:29, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

Season 3 Equipment Stats[]

Just wondering how stats for Season 3 equipment should be posted, as the stats vary depending on the combination of mats used to create it and follow a different crafting system compared to Season 1 and 2. I wonder if it's possible that we have a similar system to the Korean's Vindictus database, where you're able to select the mats and have it generate the values automatically? For example: here
--Sanitee (talk) 02:11, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

Before looking at extensions for interactive content on wiki pages it might be best considering using some sort of data table containing how much each material will affect the outcome. I personally haven't looked into it yet, but I would assume each material would act as a multiplier to the end result. So while we can't simulate the full outcome, we can still supply the necessary formulas with its variables to do so. And while offering a complete list of combinations would sound absurd, listing at least stats with either all Superior, all Exquisite or all Fine materials (for example) actually doesn't seem so bad. More investigating regarding how the stats are calculated would be necessary... → Dig494 talk ― 01:07, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
The crafting system is most similar to the Bracelet Gem system we currently have, with each material adding it's own stat to the final product. But yeah, for now I'll simply list the different stats for the different tiers on the side just to have the information there. --Sanitee (talk) 18:29, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

Vindictus Database Tool (VDT) - A call for contributors[]

So if you read my profile you might know I was working on a tool for extracting info from the client's database. I would then process the data and place it into text ready to be exported into a template on the wiki. The tool used to be web-based and I shared access to users on the IRC. It worked great, until I lost interest in the wiki and it slowely became outdated... In my last attempt to revive it, I completely abandoned it while it was half broken. This time, with renewed motivated once I heard our competitor (ZAM) had shut down, I plan on doing things slightly differently...

For starters, I plan on making the source available for all, so contributors can continue working on it once I back down. I have great ambition for this tool, believing it could help greatly with the wiki and making definitely speeding up the release of new information on new patches. However, I am still a novice team developer. I can go my way building an application from scratch or using a framework, but I've never participated in group projects involving more than 4 members, and even less being public. This is why I'm looking for members for either contribution or even just motivation. Frequent wiki editors would also be welcomed since they are the ones knowing exactly what needs more attention. I'm available through Skype by the name of Nedigo but I can also set myself to join the Wiki IRC once I become available.

I was thinking about using C# and ASP.NET (using MVC and EF) combined with BitBucket or GitHub and using an application such a AppHarbor to automatically host it online. However, nothing has been decided yet, so don't let it put you down. → Dig494 talk ― 03:26, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

Infobox Battle and Battle Maps[]

Now that battle pages are swapping over to the Template:Infobox battle, I've been wondering if assigning designated pages for maps is still necessary (for example: Queen of the Cursed/maps).

I've noticed a formatting issue with the map area and tables as seen on Queen of the Cursed with the existing template. Using 'prettytables' fixes the issue, but the width of tables aren't consistent as the ones when using 'realtable' which makes it seem more organized.

Perhaps it'd be possible to remove the map section from the bottom of the template, and just give it a section of it's own at the bottom of the battle page. This would probably be especially helpful for Season 2 dungeons, where battles have multiple maps (Twilight Desert has 12+ maps) and dungeons that include minimaps that are tall in height (for example: Charles Rat Race map). A section below, rather than on the side, would provide more space and would not include cluttered tabs (for example: Queen of the Cursed).

Thoughts? --Sanitee (talk) 01:49, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

Надстрочный текст==Template Needed for Waking Stones== Unfortunately I'm not familiar with creating templates. But if someone can edit the existing item template to accommodate information for Waking Stones, that would be great! Waking Stones follow a similar format to Enchant Scrolls. Please and thank you! --Sanitee (talk) 20:01, 2 August 2015 (UTC)

Made a template - dunno how it'll go with waking stones. Also I tried to make an add-on to skill template, so you may as well check it out. --Disgard Arcueid Silverberg (talk) 17:43, 6 August 2015 (MSK)

Thanks! Hopefully you don't mind but I edited it a bit to match it with the in-game tooltips and kept the types separate.--Sanitee (talk) 22:47, 6 August 2015 (UTC)
